We recently had the privilege of designing and building a training bumper for Bellingham Police Department and Whatcom County Sheriff's Office for their Pit Maneuver training vehicles. Our fabricator, Matt, did an amazing job with this design, taking several factors into consideration. 1. The bumper was designed to match the height of the front bumpers on the training vehicles. 2. The bumper was extended far enough forward that the rear door will be protected if training exercises get a little rowdy. 3. The bumper has reinforced skirts that allow for removing the tires if needed. 4. The bumper is 100% removable, so its transferrable to another vehicle should the current vehicle be retired. 5.The front of the bumper is supported by a brace running through the middle of the vehicle. 6. The current front bumpers on these vehicles are so over built and heavy that it affects the handling dynamics of the vehicle. We strove to find the perfect balance between strength and weight savings to give the officers the most true to life training experience possible. 7. Lastly, we powdercoated it because it looks cool and will last! We are always happy to help our local law enforcement and look forward to continuing this partnership with BPD and WCSO. (And maybe they will let us try some pit maneuvers!)...
