Overview: Car Battery Replacement
A battery gives you almost no warning. It cranks a little slower for a week, you tell yourself it is the cold, and then on the third try there is a click and nothing else. That is the whole story of this category: a part that works perfectly until the morning it does not.
The visit itself is short. A shop tests the state of charge, puts the battery under load to see whether it holds voltage, and checks that the charging system is actually filling it back up, because a healthy battery on a starved system dies the same way. They clean or replace corroded terminals, and if the car has been flattening batteries repeatedly they look for a drain that keeps drawing after the key is out.
Fitment is not just size. The tray, the hold-down and the terminal positions have to match, and cars with stop-start need an AGM or EFB battery. Those usually have to be registered to the car's computer after fitting, so the charging strategy matches the new battery. Skip that step and the battery ages early.
