Here is the first official post for the 1968 Cadillac El Dorado’s journey to perfection. nThe first step was to take it for a test drive to determine mechanical needs. As often as possible, mechanical work should be done before body work. Then, we brought the car in, got it on the lift and gave it a thorough inspection. Lots of fun stuff to do! While the engine and interior will take some time, we can also start pulling off accessories, such as bumpers, chrome pieces, lights, door handles, the vinyl roof, etc because many of the parts will need to be sent out to be re-chromed or fixed. When you look at the pictures, you will see that we have already removed the front bumper and body side and rocker moldings. We also removed the trim around the vinyl top and then peeled up the vinyl to reveal the rust underneath that will need to be addressed. Up next is to continue removing parts such as the rear bumper, mirrors, door handles, belt moldings, etc. Stay tuned!
