That’s right, RV manufacturers often use a standard AC ducting system across a line of campers. So your ducting may be longer than what is necessary for your rig. This means some of your precious cold air is hanging out in that extra ducting, cooling your ceiling, instead of making its way down to the coach to cool you. To check if this is the case for you, go to the vent that is closest to the front of your RV. Remove the vent cover, then slide your phone’s camera up that vent and point it towards the front of your camper. If you see that the ducting extends far past the last vent in the line then congratulations you have just found some extra cooling potential in your rig. To take advantage of all that extra cold air hanging out in your ceiling, head to your local hardware store and get some foam insulation. You’re then going to cut a small rectangle to act as a wall inside your ducts just past your vent. This way the cold air coming through your ducts will hit the wall and come down to you, instead of continuing down the line and cooling your ceiling.
