Why Does My Car Shake When I Brake? When you Brake, your car should come to a smooth and quick stop. Your car Brake System converts foot pressure to hydraulic pressure. Brake Calipers squeeze the Brake Pads against the Brake Rotors. In a Drum system, Brake Shoes extend outward and press against the Brake Drum. Brake Pads can be metallic, ceramic, or even organic. Newer Brake Rotors are much thinner. This results in a shorter lifespan. Depending on the material used in your Brake Pads and Rotors, uneven wear can occur. High-speed braking or excessive stop-and-go can create high heat levels. High heat leads to premature breakdown of the hydraulic parts. It may also cause your Brake Rotors to warp.
