Why does my car make noise when I drive? Your car could make noise while driving for different reasons. Some of the most common reasons are wheel bearings that fatigue over time and make a humming noise which can increase with speed. These bearings can also loosen if damaged and increase the risk of wheel separation from the vehicle. Unevenly worn or cupped tires will also create a rotational noise which can get louder with speed. Wheel alignment could cause or contribute to unevenly worn tires as well as worn out suspension parts such as strut assembly, shock absorbers and control arms or bushings. Some vehicle parts will only make noise when there is a load placed on them such as an axle shaft assembly which will make a clicking sound when turning. Motor mounts consist of mostly rubber bushings that deteriorate with age and will cause excess vibration from the engine throughout the vehicle if broken.
