What you see in this photograph is R1234YF. It is a refrigerant that many newer vehicles utilize for the operation of the air conditioner. Upside is that it is supposedly better for the environment. Downside is its extremely more expensive. The traditional refrigerant R134A costs us around $10 per pound. This new refrigerant costs us $60 per pound. It is something to be aware of when purchasing a vehicle. It is especially important when choosing a facility to perform body work on your vehicle. Most do not have this refrigerant in stock nor the special equipment needed to use it. That means additional costs you may not have accounted for.
