2002 Porsche Boxster - Mystery Camshaft Deviations Solved This 100k mile car has excessive cam deviations throwing the CEL. After unraveling the oil filter to look for metal (IMS starting to fail?) we instead found green rubbery stuff. Where did this come from? Removing the bank 1 "tensioner", we found remnants of this material in the piston. An expensive bummer, but it's an awesome car to drive and generally quite reliable, so amortized over 20 years, arguably not heinous.
