Widespread rain at lower elevations near the front range into southern Colorado with wet snurfall in the foothills, up on the continental divide, and in the mountains of southern Colorado. nnThe further east/northeast you go onto the plains, the drier it is because you lose the upslope component of the wind and terrain influencing. At least for now! nnSnow levels I think will fluctuate between 6000-7000 feet today; so don't be surprised on the Palmer Divide and in portions of El Paso County if you see a mix or change to wet snowfall at times. nnBy this afternoon/evening, I think we will transition to scattered showers as this storm system occludes and weakens (again) and slowly starts moving off to the east. nnThat means temperatures will moderate over the weekend; HOWEVER due to the storm circulation, showers and thunderstorms will develop with daytime heating and move from south to north. That means your Mother's Day Weekend plans might be spoiled if they're outside. You've been warned. nnGoing through next week, the forecast models and ensemble trends continue to support an active weather pattern despite temperatures getting back into the 60s and 70s.
