Do I Need to Be Present When You Pick Up My Car?

Whether or not you need to be present for the pickup depends mostly on the payment arrangement made. It is standard for us to pay cash on the spot for a vehicle, but if you call us with a special request, we may be able to work out an alternative payment arrangement with you, such as a money wire or mailed check. You can also pick up the money at a later time at our office. If you cannot be present at the pickup, just be sure to leave the appropriate paper work inside the vehicle.

Can I Keep a Totaled Car?

Yes, you can keep a totaled car, so long as you follow the proper laws and protocols for doing so, which mostly depend on whether or not the vehicle is insured. If you were to accept money from the insurance company, and then keep your vehicle, you could be found guilty of insurance fraud depending on the specifics of your situation. Some policies allow people to keep their totaled vehicle, while others include language that does not permit this at all. It is important to talk to your insurance provider and learn the details of what your policy covers and what it does not. Uninsured vehicles can simply be kept without having to do anything.

How Do I Prepare to Sell a Junk Car?

Once you have made arrangements to sell your junk car or asset, be sure to take all personal possessions out of it first. Then remove your license plate and cancel your registration with the state. Take it a step further and siphon the fuel out of the vehicle and store it in approved fuel containers for future use commodities that take fuel, like lawn mowers. This is actually helpful for the buyers since they have to drain all the fluids anyway.
