Transmission Repair Shops in Burlington, VT

Common Transmission Problems Delayed/Harsh Shifts: Over time, clutch packs and valves can deteriorate, creating delayed or harsh engagement of different gears. Fluid and filter changes can help proactively prevent this problem. Slippage: As internal clutches and bands wear down, you may experience brief slippage between shifts, especially when accelerating or towing. Failure to address slippage exacerbates costly problems down the road. Low Fluid Levels: As seals wear out and leaks develop, low transmission fluid can cause shifting issues, overheating, and accelerated wear. Identifying any leaks early on is crucial. Overheating: Older fluid often has less effective heat transfer properties. Combine that with high temperatures in the transmission and you can face serious overheating problems in the torque converter, hydraulic circuits, or even warp gearsets. Updating fluid and installing an auxiliary transmission cooler can help prevent this. Complete Failure: Previous mechanical issues, electrical failures, a single catastrophic event, high mileage, or inadequate fluid maintenance as components wear out can all lead to catastrophic and very expensive transmission replacement or rebuild needs. Avoiding that major repair bill requires proactive service. Don't let any potential problems go. It is vital to get it looked at when you first start noticing anything off.
