Is Your Car’s Transmission Overheating? What To Do for Sandy Area Drivers Pull Off the Road If you notice the warning lights on your dashboard signaling a transmission problem or your car suddenly starts producing a burning smell or smoke, pull over to the shoulder of the road as soon as you can do it safely. Don’t raise the hood until the engine cools down to avoid the risk of burns. Note Your Observations To assist your mechanic, make a quick note of what you experienced once you became aware of an issue. What kind of driving were you doing? What were the signs of trouble? These kinds of details make it easier for your mechanic to spot the problem and know how to fix it. Consider Calling a Tow Truck You may be tempted to restart the car and drive to a service station after the car cools down, but depending on the cause of the problem, your car will overheat again. Instead, contact a tow truck company and have your car picked up and delivered to your auto mechanic. Worried About Your Car’s Transmission Overheating in Sandy?
