Auto Repair in Lawrenceville, GA

Naturally, like any tank that's sat for some time in an empty state, your tank developed the requisite surface rust and scale inside. This will need to be addressed before the tank is put to use, lest we want to ruin our new fuel system. Cleaning the exterior of the stock gas tank is the first step, especially the area around the fuel level sender. While the tank can relatively clean on the outside, inside the tank there can be another story. Years of rust and crud accumulated inside and you don't want any of that in our new fuel system! To clean and seal your gas tank, we'll be using a three-step process Rust remover, and metal etch/cleaner solutions then sealer. Any bungs or outlets on the tank need to be plugged before the sealing process can begin, including the filler neck. The first step in restoring your stock gas tank is to thoroughly clean all the loose debris, rust, and scale from inside. Next, the fuel level sender hole is sealed. While the tank is manhandled, allowing the cleaning solution to cover every square inch of the interior to knock the scale, rust, and debris from the surface. After the initial "rough and tumble," the interior of the tank is inspected and the process is repeated as necessary. Once it's given a clean bill of health, the tank is rinsed with water and drained until the solution is nice and clear. Then, the tank is left to thoroughly dry. Once the interior of the tank is nice and dry, it's time to apply the liner coating prep solution.
